Meditation is a personal experience with many benefits, and there are a variety of ways to meditate
Below is a short guided meditation. Guided meditations generally ask you to sit or lay down and be still, close your eyes, and listen to the narrator as they bring you through a meditation. This method works well for those who struggle to quiet the mind enough to calm down on their own.
Next is what we call a Breathing Meditation. Unlike the meditation video above, this breathing meditation can be done anytime, anywhere, and discreetly without anyone around you even knowing you're doing it. It can easily be done in the workplace, or at home, and anywhere in between. Controlling your breath is key in helping to calm the parasympathetic nervous system, which triggers our body and mind to relax.
This next video presents a yoga meditation. Many will argue that yoga itself is one long physical meditation, but certain yoga flow address certain needs. This short video shows a meditation flow, involving the whole body. Some find this type of gentle stretching meditation to be easier as it does not directly involve quite as much of the mind at first.
We invite you to try some meditation techniques, and to check back for live groups and our own videos with local responders!
